José Enrique Montes Hernandez is a rebellious photographic artist born in El Salvador, raised in Canada, and influenced by his experiences living in the Dominican Republic and Taiwan. He dropped out of a traditional photography program in college but has built a successful career as a photographer, gallery director, and curator. Montes challenges conventional notions of beauty and meaning in his art, seeking to foster a deeper understanding and connection between himself and his audience. His work has been recognized and published in prestigious outlets such as VOGUE ITALIA, AESTHETICA MAGAZINE, and VICE, among others.
︎José Montes took a hiatus from professional photography (2015) and since then has been focusing his creative energy in the contemporary art market (2015-2022). However Montes is now ready to return his first love and personal passion; photography. New projects are on the way, and will soon be shared.
